The two questions that decide this purchase, answered before you scroll.

The Thermatov Halo Reserve is an 8′ × 8′ outdoor square sauna in Canadian cedar. It is delivered complete: heater, controls and stones are included in the price shown, with nothing further to specify before you order. The bench is L-shaped: it runs the full back wall and turns down one side. That extra leg is what takes it from a single row to seating for 7 to 8. Reserve brings a glass front and warm lighting beneath the benches, for sessions that run into the evening.
This exact build opens in our 3D configurator, ready to change. Swap the cedar grade, the glass, the door, the heater, the lighting, the roof or the footprint, and watch it rebuild around you. The price updates as you go.
This sauna is pre-configured. Everything listed below is included in the price on this page. Nothing here is an add-on.
Four Canadian cedar grades, eastern white and western red. This one is eastern white cedar.
Eastern white cedar
Warm, open grain with natural knots. The most character of the four.
Eastern white cedar
Even grain, minimal knots, refined finish.
Western red cedar
Rich reddish-brown, with distinctive grain.
Western red cedar
Premium grade. The most rot-resistant of the four; ages to silver-grey.
Cedar carries its own oils, so it resists rot on its own and holds its shape through a Canadian freeze-thaw year. The part you notice is the bench: at 180°F the air is properly hot, and the cedar you are sitting on stays a comfortable temperature.
Every Thermatov ships with a bare cedar interior. Cedar needs no finish to last. Its own extractives resist rot, so finishing is a question of appearance and upkeep. Left bare, it is refreshed with an occasional light sanding. A penetrating sauna oil or wax soaks into the grain, reduces the moisture and dirt the wood takes up, and makes cleaning easier. It suits benches and, with the right product, walls and ceiling. Varnish, lacquer, polyurethane and deck sealer form a surface film and do not belong in a hot room. Knotty and clear are the same species; only the look differs.
The same cabin at three levels of finish. Change trim and the room stays exactly the same size.
Solid white cedar, a heater matched to the room, and controls at the wall. Complete from the first session.
Glass across the front and warm light beneath the bench, for the sessions that run long.
Red cedar, glass on two sides, and heat you set from your phone before you leave the house.
Every trim is built on the same cedar shell, in the same shop, to the same tolerances, and carries the same five-year warranty.
Delivery anywhere in Canada is a flat $1,600, already included in the price on this page.
Crated on a pallet and offloaded at your kerb by the carrier, so there is nothing for you to hire. Most owners put a build this size together over a weekend with two people and ordinary tools.
Everything is labelled and the manual walks the build in order. Whichever way you go, our team is on the phone with you.
Available in and around Canada's major cities, generally within about an hour's drive of a metro centre. Somewhere quieter? Tell us where you are and we will find out what is possible. We assemble in more places than we can list.
Arranged after your order, not charged at checkout. Electrical work is separate and always goes to a licensed electrician.
Order when you are ready. A specialist goes through the size, the site and the power with you afterwards, and the build can still change at that point. Prefer to talk it through first? Call (905) 363-9223. Either way works.
Sauna order refunds are available within 24 hours of ordering; after that, sauna orders are not refundable. All non-sauna items can be returned within 14 days of delivery. You pay return shipping; any already-arranged outbound shipping amount is withheld, and a discretionary restocking fee of up to 20% may apply. Your rights if something arrives faulty or late are unaffected. See our return policy.

The same cedar, the same specification, the same heater logic. Only the room changes. Prices include delivery anywhere in Canada.
Answered in the first sentence, so you can find what you need and move on.
A dedicated 240V circuit, hardwired by a licensed electrician, who sizes the breaker and cable to the heater in this build. The hardwired supply is what lets a room this size hold full temperature through a session.
Your electrician pulls the electrical permit. The cost that catches people out is not the connection but the run: bringing 240V from the panel to a detached building across the yard, and whether an older panel has the capacity to supply it. We recommend obtaining two or three quotes before you order, and asking each electrician to price the cable run and any panel work separately.
Compacted gravel, pavers or a concrete slab. All three work. What matters is that the pad is level and carries the load: the sauna plus the people inside it asks for roughly double what a standard residential deck is built for, so a deck needs a structural review first.
In frost country the pad wants to manage heave as well as sit level, which means going below the local frost depth or insulating the perimeter. Gravel drains and is the most forgiving of the three. A slab is the most permanent, and takes a moisture barrier beneath the floor.
Yes, and winter is when most owners use it most. Allow 45 to 60 minutes to reach temperature on a mild day, and closer to two hours at −25°C.
A cold start spends its first stretch heating the timber itself, and that stored heat is what holds the room steady once you are inside. Scheduled or app-controlled heating makes the wait invisible: you start it from the house and walk out to a sauna that is ready.
45 to 60 minutes from a mild-weather start, and longer in deep cold. The heater in this build is sized to this room rather than to a price point, which is what determines whether that figure holds in practice.
These are two separate questions with different answers. The electrical permit is near-universal, and your electrician handles it.
A building permit is often not required for a small detached accessory building with no plumbing, but this varies by municipality and the size threshold matters. Zoning applies regardless of size: setbacks from your lot lines, height, and how much of the lot is already covered. Two neighbouring towns can hold different rules. Please confirm with your municipality’s building department before you order; they will tell you which of the two applies to your lot.
Crated on a pallet, by freight carrier, and offloaded at your kerb. The carrier brings the equipment to get it off the truck, so there is nothing for you to hire for that part.
From the kerb it is a short move to the pad. Most sites do it with two people and an appliance dolly over a firm surface. Measure that route before delivery day, and if your access is tight, steep or soft, tell us before you order and we will look at it with you.
It arrives as a kit, and assembly is required. You can build it yourself or add professional assembly from $1,200, which is arranged after your order rather than charged at checkout.
Owners who assemble a build of this size themselves generally do it over one to two days with two people. It is substantial work, but it does not require a specialist trade. Everything arrives labelled, with a manual that walks the build in order.
Closer to the house than you may expect. Proximity is the strongest predictor of how often a sauna gets used once winter arrives.
Owners who site it near a door, a bathroom or a gym use it far more often, year after year. It is worth weighing that against the spot with the best view. The shorter power run and smaller pad make it the cheaper option as well.
Appearance and price, not performance. This build is eastern white cedar. Every grade we offer carries the natural oils that resist rot, and every one of them keeps the bench at a comfortable temperature to sit on.
Eastern white cedar is lighter in tone and more affordable. Western red is darker and, in the clear grade, the most rot-resistant of the four. Knotty against clear is entirely a question of look. A knot does not change how the wood performs. The grade on this build can be changed in the configurator.
Comparable to running an electric oven or a clothes dryer, for the time it is on. Multiply the heater’s kilowatts by the hours you run it and by your electricity rate.
Treat published per-session figures with care. Most of the numbers online are calculated for 1.7 kW infrared cabinets, which is a different appliance entirely from a traditional heater of this size. Running during off-peak hours makes a material difference in Ontario.
Very little, and one rule worth knowing. Use sauna-specific wax or paraffin oil on the interior, never a conventional stain or sealer, and never both products on the same surface.
Outside, cedar can be left to silver naturally or kept with an exterior finish. Both are correct; it is a question of the look you want. Inside, wash the benches a few times a year and run the heater for an hour after a session with the door closed so the room dries; that single habit is what keeps it fresh. Re-stack the stones every six months and replace them about once a year, which keeps the elements underneath in good condition.
Five years on the build, covering the cabin and its joinery. The heater and controls carry their own manufacturer warranty, which we register for you.
Sauna order refunds are available within 24 hours of ordering; sauna orders are not refundable after that window. All non-sauna items can be returned within 14 days of delivery. You pay return shipping. If outbound shipping has already been arranged, that amount is withheld from your refund. A discretionary restocking fee of up to 20% may apply. Statutory rights and manufacturer warranty coverage are unaffected.
